Kayak with the Library!

We're partnering with the Forest Preserves of Cook County! 

Kayak on the Des Plaines River with Library staff! Adults 18+ can join us in tandem or solo kayaks, provided by the Forest Preserves.  Trips are estimated to be 2-3 hours. Personal flotation devices and equipment are included. We will go over paddling and safety before getting on the water. 

We will meet at Schuth's Grove, 8040 Cermak Rd, Riverside, IL 60546 west of Des Plaines Ave, but end at Plank Road Meadow Boat Launch, 8350 Ogden Ave, Riverside, IL 60546.  Please plan your own transport from Plank Road Meadow Boat Launch back to Schuth's Grove. It is a 3-mile hike, or a 10-minute car ride. The Library and the Forest Preserves cannot transport participants.

Registration is required and cannot be done through the website. To register, please visit the Adult & Teen Services desk. Please prepare to sign a waiver at the time of registration. If registering with 2 people, please indicate this at the time of registration as you will be assigned a tandem kayak.

In the event of inclement weather, this program will be cancelled.
