The Art and Craft of the Machine: A Discussion by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust

Part of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust's Volunteer Enrichment Program, but open to all. Join us for a guided discussion on Frank Lloyd Wright’s 1901 essay, “The Art and Craft of the Machine.” In this essay Wright writes about the history of art and technology as well as the use of machinery in making art, amongst other things. We will open with a brief exercise in defining what exactly qualifies as art. We will then discuss the themes of the essay in terms of their relation to Wright’s own work as well as how they can shape our thinking on art in general.
