Program Description

Program Description

Marlene Rivero slips into the persona of the former slave who, after winning her own freedom, became a conductor on the Underground Railroad. In numerous trips back to the South, she helped more than 300 slaves escape to the North. After the Civil War began, Harriet Tubman worked for the Union as a cook, nurse, and even a spy. Rivero shares the amazing story of Tubman’s faith, determination, and courage. This program is brought to you in partnership with River Forest Township.
